David asks…

Hi, Looking for a new name for a web based IT company. Any ideas?

To get more business and to sell some software products we need a good domain name in the business field.I prefer short, meaningful and audible(stuck in the memory when we hear it once).
Mostly we deal with projects like social networking sites in php.Now we think to get into the mobile application development field.
so please suggest a name for our company.

Sharon asks…

is j2ee required for j2me ?

i am going to do core java now and further i am interested in mobile application development in java so want to enquire that is there a need to do j2ee before j2me ?

admin answers:

No. J2EE is Enterprise (EJB, Servlets, JSP etc.) whereas ME is mobile. Mobile versions are very stripped down and do not include many features in SE and EE.
If you are looking into Java development for mobiles I’d recommend using Android over J2ME.

MSc Web Applications Development?

Good Morning!!

I need your guidelines on the below thing:

I am from India. I wish to join Master degree in Web/ Mobile Programming. Basically I am Web Designer with 3 years experience. Please advice if am choosing the
“MSc Web Applications Development” course, is it helpful for my career. Also I am keenly interested to do Mobile User Interface design/development. Is this course fulfill my aspirations?

admin answers:

You need to bypass the secondary protocol programming using a T4 Matrix graft. Once that is done, turn in your assignment for extra credit, and then you can meet your aspirations.

CX-310-202 / Sun Certified System Administrator-Part 2
CX-310-302 / Sun Certified Network Administrator (SCNA)
CX-310-303 / Sun Certified Security Administrator

Finlay, I just need advice from any one who has experience in this field

admin answers:

Knowing both is definitely a plus, but if you can only take one, I’d vote Java. I’ve done Solaris (IRIX, HP-UX, AIX, DEC Ultrix, and Redhat and SUSE Linux) administration but find Java development much more appealing. Of course not everyone is the same with their interest so maybe Solaris would work for you. For the job market though, there are more Java positions available. Solaris faces a lot of competition from Linux and Microsoft, especially since Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems. Java seems to be a bit less of a concern since many companies have an interest in it continuing as a product.

Daniel asks…

Which Programming Language is best to learn?

I want to start learn some Programming languages for mobile application development. I am to open to Java a lot but i dont know if thats the best. I looking to develop for Blackberry and android and the playbook (future qnx Blackberry phones). What 1 or 2 Launguages should i learn ?
*** Note: i dont care for iOS (Apple) . I dislike apple

Thanks,
* Sorry for the earlier one. Type fast and didnt proof read. Im not as dum as you think. i meet be a little though.

admin answers:

I would say Java. They have issues but you should really, as top contributor Colanth says, learn programming, not a programming language. Blackberry uses Java and Android currently uses Davlik, which uses Java, but that is subject to change. I won’t go into them, but if you can take a course in programming with Java, that WOULD be better than learning on your own.
